A couple of (young) Eastern Bluebirds found themselves in our wood stove several days back with no idea how to fly up the chimney (the way then got there in the first place). Had to pull shades and close interior doors and open the French doors to the back yard and then wait for them to hear and respond to the calling of a parent. Took about ten minutes before they walked to the front of the stove and fly off to the safety of the great big outdoors.

What a surprise! Maybe time to install an anti-bird chimney cap screen thing?
Diane and I have both thought of that though we haven't had any surprise visitors the last several days.
We so rarely see bluebirds because they are so private and so quick. Their coming to visit was obviously a terribly fearsome event for them.
