Great Blue Heron Airborne

The same heron featured on yesterday's Monochrome Weekly Theme here seen with wings extended and looking s bit more on the graceful side. As Daryl mentioned in the comments, and others noted as well, a bird with a lot of apparent awkwardness but at the same time having a fair amount of grace as well. I, too, find it a fascinating creature for those reasons as wll as the prehistoric nature of the beast. How can you hear the screech of the heron and not think of dinasaurs and other behemoths crashing through the underbrush? Enough to give one a start every time the Great Blue says hello in passing...

It must be a awkward for these birds when they are learning to fly! It looks a bit more on pattern here :)
