If you want an American-made electric car, try Tesla Motors in California. Their specs are very similar to the Lightning from Britain. You can get to their site from the Lightning site. Tesla had manufactured one of the first electric cars several years ago, but legislation prevented their marketing it (of course). Their advantage in this case is that they've been perfecting it for years! Take a look.
