Saturday Scramble and Skins

Pictures: Ian and Lucas, Eric's boys, at the Cabin Friday morning.

First the nine hole scramble which was decided on the cards. The results:

1st: Junior Byron-Trenton Kidwell-Kevin Byron-Kent Summers (-4)
2nd: Derek Gilbertson-Jon Boyd-Jake Strange-Morris Cornelius (-4)
3rd: Mike Kidwell-Tyler Kidwell-Joe Allen-Joe Doyle (-3)
3rd: Mike Bird-Wayne Souerdike-Adam Lundy-Curt Johnson (-3)

Hole Prizes to Jon Boyd, both #1 and #5; Kevin Byron on #7; and Derek Gilbertson on #9.

Surprising low scores for the caliber of the teams. Of course, the course is very wet, soggy.
Jon Boyd had the hot iron though he stole Morris Cornelius thunder on the first hole. Morris stuck one within 4 feet and then saw Jon, his teammate, put one a few inches closer. And that was after Morris had to save his team with a tee shot that ended up down the left side of the fairway and some 125 to 130 yards from the hole.

In the skin match that followed, there were eight players and four skins taken: Mike Kidwell, with only one stroke, made the most of it by being the only one of eight to par the first hole - the net bird gave him a skin that many thought might be the only one to be gotten (would have been awfully nice for Mike). Trenton Kidwell had a birdie with a stroke on two (which negated two honey putts by Tyler Kidwell and me for birdies). Derek Gilbertson sank a nice 12 foot putt on #5 for an actual birdie and a net eagle for a skin; and Kent Summers had a par and a net bird on #8 for a skin - he's got Tyler Kidwell and me (remember the honey putters on #2?) to thank as the two of us three putted the green.

More next week.
