Yesterday's travels east and south

Got out and about with Jim and Wilma and Diane yesterday. Headed over to the old home place south of Shoals on the Lost River where we saw what remains of twenty-five years of life out in the country. Trees are still growing and Mother Nature is going about the business of reclaiming garden spots and areas where children, goats, chickens, pigs and cattle used to roam. Didn't see any deer or wild turkeys though am sure they saw us and were just up the rise or around the bend waiting for us to get on our way again. Which we did. Diane took a shot of me pointing to the road sign: Bird Ln. The signs are new though I think the lane had been given our name twenty or so years ago when the county came out and did some major repair on it. We then went on down to French Lick and lunch at the resort - oh so grand in the Grand Colonnade. Afterwards had to stop in at the casino and see what folks were doing - pretty much the same as the last time I was in a casino - sitting around watching lights flash and bells ring. Not as many patrons nowadays what with the big economic turndown. That didn't stop me from coming out a winner: the ladies did the button pushing for a short while (Jim and I walked around and about) and I got the leftovers. On the way back, Jim took us down to Larry Bird's rather nice old digs which is now a resort and not associated with Larry in any way at all. Back to Loogootee via Haysville. And on to other pursuits - napping, internetting, walking at the golf course and Boggs, a light dinner and a movie (The Counterfeiters).

Sounds like a nice day out. I like the casino part. :-) I went the other day to one of the indian reservation casinos. I broke even so that was good. :-)
