A short lived lead for the home team - Loogootee, over the #1 team in the state - Vincennes Rivet, in the sectional being held at the Lion Den tonight. The one point lead late in the fourth quarter was earned at the foul line and was the Lions first lead of the night. Alas, the foul shooter stepped over the line (oops - not the foul shooter but rather a lane violation which, in the replays, was bogus), negating the one point lead and giving Rivet the ball. They came down the floor and scored the go ahead two pointer with 2.1 seconds left on the clock. Trista Strange took the inbounds pass for Loogootee, dribbled just over the mid court line and hit a three pointer just after time expired (another oops: she was called for palming the ball - the Times-Herald write-up here). Oh, daggers to the hearts of the Lions and their fans. In the earlier game, Barr Reeve easily handled Shoals to advance to the Sectional final against Vincennes Rivet tomorrow night.
