Birds galore

A white crowned sparrow came to visit just outside our east window. He was one of many small birds in the area today: gold and purple finches, juncos, nuthatches, tufted titmice. Larger birds in the area included cardinals and crows. Click on the photo for a larger, more detailed picture.

Nice photo. Birds are so tough to photograph without a lot of patience and a long lens. BTW, of course Wikipedia is a good resource - I'm not sure if you've seen this (part of my legacy at WBU).

Forgot I had this site in my bookmarks! It's a good supplement/substitute for our Audubon book, which I think has impossible pictures. Fun ID-ing birds that are here now for the winter; this is why we feed year round; time for me to make some more suet blocks?

The big birds will definitely appreciate the arrival of the suet blocks. Did you ever wonder if the human animal would do a little better in the winter with a stop at his own suet block every now and then? A bit of crunchy peanut butter on a hot piece of fresh bread might be an appropriate substitute.

I like this one and it's so clear too. Great shot. :-)

Crunchy peanut butter? You need bark butter. OK I'll stop the commercials now.
