This and that on a Saturday morning

Diane's starting a stew; Eric went to Bloomington with Colleen; am pretty sure Miki and Kevin are down in West Baden; don't know what Marty and Danielle are up to this weekend, probably something good.

Eric put me onto this from the Indy Star: Hoosiers give most to Clinton. Well, bless their pea pickin hearts. (You know where that phrase comes from, don't you? If you don't remember, try here.)

Marty forwarded a site with a page full of anti war posters. We're all anti war, aren't we? Just like we're all anti abortion - no body wants to go through an abortion if they don't have to. Don't know if that is just as true with war. Too bad.

Reading a book on loan from Colleen: Sam Walton: Made in America. Down home, small town American who just happened to be a genius at merchandising and hard work. Am enjoying it a lot.

Did you catch the PBS program on Mary Pickford the other night? America's sweetheart back in my Mother's day. She apparently had a genius of her own, not only as an actress but also as a business woman. Lived long after her active days in Hollywood were over; given a special Oscar in 1976. Of note:

1976

Mary Pickford with honorary Oscar The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presents Pickford with a lifetime achievement award. She accepts the award from Pickfair. Audiences are shocked by the old, almost unrecognizable Pickford wearing a wig and false eyelashes.

Hmmm. Note the 'shock' item. Jeesh, guys, people age. I though she looked super but then I never saw her as a young and lovely starlet.

Going to go take some pictures of the lake and its surrounds. Expect I'll be back...
