Monochrome Maniacs: Heron looking for fresh fish
This blue heron was more interested in finding fresh fish than he was in my wandering about up on the dam. Photos were taken a few days ago when the rise in temperature allowed for a little thawing and also some golf (!). Since then, another cold blast has dropped down on us from the north. Other Monochrome Maniacs can be found here - go and enjoy their artistry and their skill.

I love watching these birds "hunt" so still except for an occasional eye shift. wonderful capture!
Great shots of the heron. I try to photograph the ones near me but haven't gotten any really good shots. I appreciate these a lot.
You "captured" a blue Heron foe us this week. You were lucky it was more interested in fishing than in your occupation.
Don't they just look Jurassic,
one emptied my fish pond a long time ago
I was not very pleased...lol
good mono though.
Great shots of the heron, good it didn't see you.
What a wonderful critter you've captured!
I am still waiting for the herons here, but no luck. Ducks, cormorants, gulls a plenty. Beautifully done
Nice shot!
Wonderful heron! It is always again a big moment to see one. I postet a grey heron two weeks ago.
I always wonder at their improbably long legs. Nice capture.
Golf??? As an ex golfer, I know how much it can sting when hands are cold. You must be addicted...but then...what golfer isn't! Nice shots here...
Wildlife photography is something I need to work on getting better at. And shots like this one are the reason why! Great catch.
Warms me right up to see that heron ... I am pretending spring is on the way
They're great birds, aren't they?
I love the contrast of pattern and texture in the first shot!
Great photographs well done
I'm so jealous. I have yet to catch a heron unawares. They see me and my camera and off they go!
Woah! I like birds in photos. These are great shots Michael.
Nice catch. I hope to hone my bird shot skills, but not until summer. It's too cold!
In answer to your question, that shot was taken about 12 years after James Dean's death. Although, Dean's style was still hanging out in our neck of the woods. It takes us farmers a while to catch up with the rest of the world. ;)
Very cool shot!
