Saturday Notes to Get a Day Started: LPGA, Football, Nixon, etc.

-LPGA: Ron Kroichick from ESPN writes about ten of the top lady golf stories this year including a note on Michelle Wie. It will catch you up on all the biggies on that tour. The ladies are playing in Danville, CA, this weekend. Karrie Webb and Lori Kane are one up on Lorena Ochoa heading into the weekend.

-College Football: Ohio State is favored at Purdue. I'm picking the Boilermakers. Hoosiers wanting to win against the Gophers. Why not? The woeful Irish out in California for a late game against the mighty Bruins of UCLA. Look for more jokes about the poor lads from South Bend tomorrow.

-The Final Days: Monday, July 29, 1974, and Nixon has been listening to tapes that are being handed over to Sirica the following day. He tells Stephen Bull, the guy in charge of the tapes: "I've heard enough."

-July 29, 1974 - Other:
--Lou Brock steals his 700th base as Cards beat up on Cubs at Wrigley, 11-4.
--Diane and I and our four youngsters were wending our way back to the Seattle area after spending a year in South Bend. We camped out in State and National Forests along the way. One of our stops was along a lake in Kansas which we looked forward to swimming in after a day on the road; we changed our minds when we saw oodles of snakes having a great old time patrolling the shoreline. Rascally things.

Time to get myself to the golf course. Go golf!
