Other Monday Stuff

Lakeview Happenings

-Kay Sheetz fires a 42 gross and a 26 net; best ever for her.
-Diane Bird fires a 47 gross and a net 32 and is back on track after a small detour. (Have you noticed that it is easier to live with your spouse if they do well on the golf course? Hmmm, I wonder if marriage counselors have ever suggested couples take up golf just because of that? Kinda doubt it.)
-Jack Butcher not able to get out here this morning so I took his place and played 18 holes with the Hudson brothers, Rex and Ken, and good neighbor Jack Lents. Play a lot of golf with the four of them during the cooler months but not much during the heated season; good to take their measure once again.

On Michelle Wie

Gene Wojciechowski at ESPN writes a supportive and sympathetic piece on the struggling phenom with the South Korean heritage. Very much worth the read. Among other things, he reminds us of how brilliant this young lady played just a year ago and that that talent hasn't just disappeared. Hard times right now for Michelle but good times ahead and I for one hope it takes far less than the year her original swing coach, Casey Nakama, is predicting for her to turn things around.

On the trashing of our government by the current administration

Via TPM, an insider in the DoJ lays it on the line in a Denver Post article and among a lot of other things says:

"...In the course of its tenure since the Sept. 11 attacks, the Bush administration has turned the entire government (and the DOJ in particular) into a veritable Augean stable on issues such as civil rights, civil liberties, international law and basic human rights, as well as criminal prosecution and federal employment and contracting practices...."

Hmmm, I like the Augean stable reference. Remember where it comes from? Go here to see if your memory is serving you correctly.

Tuesday Events Here at Lakeview

-Tuesday Boyz Club comes to town. Bring your ante for this high stakes scramble ($1).
-Tuesday Men go at it again. It's also the first week of the second team tournament of the season. Bring your A game.
-More good golf of course.

So it goes for now. Going out on the course to take a picture or two.
