Top team remains Clyde Wake and Bob Norris. Top Woman-Woman team is Shirley Jeffers and Diane Bird. In the individual competition, Clyde Wake leads overall and the Seniors, Wilma Bateman the Women, Jeff Brookshire the Men and Matt Tucker the Juniors. Weather is warming and so are the Community League players. Good stuff.

Pro Sports

Spurs spank Cavs but Cavs show a little life in fourth quarter - a sign of things to come in the next game?

Suzann Petersen wins the LPGA Championship. Michelle Wie finishes last but does finish (the Golf World article on the Rule of 88 and all that noise of the previous week sheds light - looks like to me the LPGA made sure that Mz. Wie knew about that rule so that she could exit before becoming a victim of it. And I say good for the LPGA. Protecting its interests.)

Woody Austin wins the St. Jude down in Memphis. Did you think of Jack's place as you watched yesterday? I did. What a change from sheer beauty to ho hum surroundings. Greens were fast though.

War and Peace

Bulgaria is concerned that it will not get its share of new missile defense largess. You are aware that the current administration is proposing more arms expenditures for missile defense in Europe? Russia and Putin are ticked, threatens to aim its missiles at Europe. Sounds like a revisit to the good old days of the cold war to me. Arms merchants licking their chops. Excuse my French but this on the surface is utter stupidity. Does Reagan's Star Wars initiative come to mind? (btw, still looking for Dante's designated ring of hell for these leaders...)

Doubt on success of surge in Iraq. Killings continue. Funding continues. War remains stupid.

One last item before I hie myself to the golf course (btw, looks like another beautiful day here in Loogooteeland; you know what to do - head on out to the north side and play a little golf in the sun):

Diane sent me several images of planets, suns, stars and galaxies, all of which demonstrate relative size. Whoever put them together (looking for link) was suggesting that we not sweat the small stuff. This particular array of pictures dramatically displays how utterly tiny we really are. Really, really, really tiny.
