Movies
We did watch two movies this week, one a very nice little Ed Harris movie with one scene in it that was just stunning. The movie: Winter Passing. The scene: in the hospital when father and daughter finally start listening to each other, hearing each other. Tender and touching. The other movie was a Robert DeNiro action packed thriller that had too many chase scenes and a resolution that wasn't a resolution. The movie: Ronin. What really got to me was that we never do find out what was in the briefcase that was the object of all the chasing and killing. Jeeesh. My ratings: a five for Winter Passing and a two for Ronin. Currently watching The Beautiful Country which so far is very very good - foreign film (...a drama exploring the consequences of the Vietnam War) with subtitles at least during the first part of it. Finish it sometime today.
Hey, we finally got a little rain late yesterday afternoon and evening! Been a longish dry spell for the golf course - definitely seeing brown in the fairways and a real slowdown in the growing of the grass. Makes for long drives (much appreciated by the seniors) and a mowing schedule that is sharply reduced.
Caught a little bit of the action at the Memorial yesterday afternoon. What a lovely golf course. I love all those creeks and gullies that are ball attractants. Tiger way back though he was sterling after the rain delay.
Holy Cow, I can't believe I missed the Cavs beating the Pistons again. Was looking forward to watching some of that ball game later today. Time is getting ahead of me. That's not all bad though and I feel no need to catch up with the world as it races to wherever it is going. But I am happy for the Cavs and LeBron. Expect they will be taking to the cleaners by the Spurs but would love to see them take it all. Wow, that would be a stunner. Kind of like the Colts going on to win the Super Bowl after their late season collapse that left most everybody around here predicting that they would not get past the first game of the playoffs. Hey, Cleveland may be one of the better sports cities this next decade with LeBron being joined by Brady Quinn and maybe a sudden uptick in the success of the Browns. Cleveland, a major sports city, with winning teams. That too would be a stunner.
Gotta go to the golf course. More funnies later. Heck, haven't even got to Washington D.C. or Iraq or all those other fun places yet.
