More Friday Follies

At the Memorial, Adam Scott fires a 62 in the 2nd round to take the lead at -12. Tiger in at -2, a long way back. Projected cut at 1.

From Political Animal via dKos, commentary on how permanent our stay in Iraq is designed to be. Permanent? What are you saying? We're there to help these people get through their civil war, protect their hugh oil fields, enrich gun merchants, embolden would be terrorists throughout the world and give both our young and the opposition party something to do.

In a similar vein, I noticed that Larry Hembree made a comment this week in the Tribune linking any thought of defunding the war with lack of support for our troops. Why not link the safety of our troops with their being home in their backyards and not between a rock and a hard spot over in Iraq? Remember how the KKK was finally silenced? Through massive lawsuits that stripped them of the wherewithal to even think of washing their dirty sheets much less donning them again to ride herd on those they hated. Larry might like this idea - lets sue the Federal Government till they don't have the money to do silly things. (His idea of 'silly things' might be a little different than mine, just maybe though.) Defunding bad policy, whether that be a domestic or a foreign one, is part of the wisdom of the forefathers in the creation of this democracy of ours, one where power is not vested in any one person or body. Good stuff what those guys put together in the not so distant past.

Diane has already been out on the course with Shirley Jeffers for their Community League round. Shirley's 53 is her best score ever. BTW, Jim Bateman told me Wayne Pearl's 39 yesterday was his best score as well and that after getting a triple bogey on his very first hole. Very good stuff. Gotta go see what Diane is doing out in the sun - I know what she is doing - moving rock and paving stones.

If you haven't played your round of golf yet, better get on out there. The rest of the world can wait a bit as you take a breather. (Don't forget about the scramble and skins tomorrow.)
