When Dave made his hole-in-one the other day, word got to us'ins in the clubhouse that he already had a hole-in-one and that the public notice of that achievement, the brass plaque on the clubhouse wall detailing the event, had somehow got waylaid. Well, getting around to digging around (and with a little help from good neighbor Jack who told me it has been in the recent past that it took place), I found the news article from back in the spring of 2005:
Dave Strange Gets a Hole-In-One
Friday, April 8th, one of the nicer days this Spring of 2005, brought joy and amazement to a 72-year old golfer at Lakeview Golf Course in Loogootee. Dave Strange, accompanied by Fred Elliott, was teeing off at hole #7. Using his 5-iron, Dave sent his ball straight and true toward the green, and told Fred, “That ball looks hot!” It bounced once and Dave was fairly certain the ball had rolled on past the hole. As he searched for his ball beyond the green, Fred found it in the cup. A first time ever hole-in-one for Dave! (This could be one of those things the boys talk about at the Dairy Queen every morning.)
So, our apologies for the delay, Dave, who btw now joins James Hager and Ron Wilde with his name on the wall not once but twice. Website (here) has also been updated...
