The day starts with a drop in the early morning temperatures (low 60's; we've been having low 70's). Could be an omen that scores for the Tuesday Men (or maybe even the Tuesday Boyz) are going to drop as well.
-Among the low handicappers, Short Jeffers will try to maintain his zero handicap - seems like it's been that way forever; Terry Butcher joins the club; Phil Eyler and Dave Wininger try to get back on the train; Mike Kidwell and Sons (Tyler and Trenton) wanting to get there as well. And then there is Greg Potts who is all of a sudden playing like there is no tomorrow; maybe it's the notion that someone in the family has to be grabbing the golf headlines and with Mark concentrating on other things, like getting ready to leave home and start college, that leaves it up to the old man to pick up the sticks (of course, the old old man, that would be Sam, is doing mighty fine in the Senior League).
-In the team competition, George and Don will try to stay on top with 663 points. No easy task with all those hungry dogs sniffing around and wanting any old thing to assuage their hunger. With four events to go (that's counting today's), I would expect the winning team is going to have to have somewhere between 750 and 800 points total for the year. Maybe less if things really get crazy at the top, crazy like in topsy-turvy. My prediction: change.
-In the individual competition, a lot of guys playing well and loving these hard fairways. John Drake and Kevin Byron up on top and wanting to stay there; Charlie Lyon back in very serious contention; Keith Parsons and Don Nolan lurking. And that's just the top five. Prediction: change.
-Jim Bateman just showed up to get more keys. Lots of guys out early taking advantage of the cool. I'll be heading there in a few minutes to join the Boyz in their pursuit of glory and the hugh money prize awaiting the team with the low score (it's been running about $12 but might get up to $16 today).
Let the good times roll...
