Tuesday Men and Tuesday Wrap

Taylor, Warren's own golf goddess.

Warren Atkison, Taylor, and Tim Voegerl at #7 tee box.

Short Jeffers watching his shot land softly on #7 green and turn towards the pin.
(BTW, Shirley Jeffers, Short's better half, got the first birdie of her relatively short golf life at #9 yesterday. That means she goes into play next week with a birdie at her last hole and a chance to make it two in a row...)

Congrats to the new leaders: John Drake vaulted into the top position in the individual competition with a sterling round of 38 today; and George Templin and Don Nolan climb back into first in the team competition largely on the strength of George's nifty 38. Races remain volatile so new leaders should enjoy their stay at the top - it may be short lived. But maybe not; season's end is just around the corner.

Other news of note:

-Kent Summers played early this morning, shot a very respectable 39 and all that followed his Community League round Monday night which saw him miss a five foot putt at #2 which would have given him his first ever eagle but then actually got that first ever at #4. He and Shirley Jeffers sharing first evers on Monday.
-Greg Potts' 33 was his best ever and that was with a bogey on #8. In other words, it should have been better. People in the clubhouse congratulated him to no end then mentioned that he now qualifies as an A player for the Saturday Scrambles. I agree and look for Greg to get his own team the next time he shows up... Greg, ever the humble one, denied that he was of that A player heft yet...
-Terry Butcher and Tyler Kidwell have par rounds.
-Mike Albertson shot a superb 39 and asked me if I had received my winnings from the American Legion Tournament a few weeks back. I did remember receiving the manila envelope a few days ago but had not opened it yet. Mike shot a 36 hole total of 173 at the tournament and that gave him Post 120 honors and a spot just about at the bottom of the A Flight and a payout of exactly zero dollars. I, on the other hand, played poorly enough (175 total for the two days) that I ended up in a tie for first in the B Flight and a check of $42 plus some change. My oh my, isn't life just a cat's meow at times. Maybe I should share it with Mike... (smile)
-Warren Atkison gets a lift from his little golf goddess, Taylor, and shoots a super 39. She promises to keep him around for a bit longer.
-Tim Miller, after a day that saw him moving three times as much beer as he usually does, came to the course exhausted and then shot a very decent 37.
-Tom McAtee also shot a 37. Best ever, Tom?
-Charlie Lyon shot a 43 and got himself right back into the picture for the championship.

And still Other News

-Brady Quinn signs his Brown contract; head coach not at all happy that he missed so much of early season practice; does not expect him to be anywhere near ready for start of season.
